Finalmente progressi!

At last some progress!

Ecco alcuni balestrieri della avanguardia di Bartolomeo d'Alviano alla batttaglia di Agnadello. Portano la livrea bianca e rossa di Bartolomeo.

Some crossbowmen from the Bartolomeo d'Alviano vanguard at the battle of Agnadello. They show the red and white livery of Bartolomeo.

I veneziani erano molto orgogliosi della loro abilità con la balestra. Gare venivano periodicamente organizzate per formare una riserva di balestrieri papabili per l'arruolamento. Molto spesso finivano imbarcati ma l'esercito non era certo da meno. 

The Venetians were quite proud of their skill with the crossbow. Periodical tournaments were organized to create a pool of crossbowmen ready to be levied. usually they went on the ships, but the army was not the least.

Gli italiani in generale ed i veneziani in particolare furono tra i primi ad adottare armi da fuoco. Così non ho resistito alla tentazione di arruolare alcuni "schioppetti" nel mio crescente esercito veneziano.

 The italians in general and the venetians in particular were keen in adopting the first firearms. So I couldn't resist the idea of enrolling some in my growing venetian army.

Naturalmente anch'essi vantano la divisa del D'Alviano.

Ora mancano solo i dettagli...

Of course they also sport the livery of D'Alviano. Next step the detailing...

Stranamente sul sito degli ottimi Perry non sono disponibili foto dettagliate delle materozze di questa scatola. Ho trovato una discreta recensione su dakka dakka.

Comunque, per rimediare, vediamo cosa ci ho trovato io :D.

Wierd, on the good Perry twins' site are not present detailed photos of the sprues in this box.

Anyway, to stopgap the issue, let’s see what I found myself :D

  

Per cominciare, la scatola contiene 5 materozze: 3 base e 2 comando.

La sprue base contiene 12 figure, 12 teste separate ed abbastanza braccia ed armi per equipaggiare 4 balestrieri, 4 schioppettieri e 6 picchieri.

The box contains 5 sprues, to start with: 3 standard and 2 command sprues. The basic sprue includes 12 "dolls", 12 separate heads and arms and weapons enough to equip 4 crossbowmen, 4 handgunners and 6 pikemen.

  

Le sprue comando contiene 2 figurini e moltissimo armamentario vario: 11 teste, 6 pavesi, un tamburo, spade e teste di alabarda e falcioni per convertire le picche in armi in asta.

The command sprue includes 2 figures and lots of equipments: 11 heads, 6 paveses, a drum, swords and alberds and falchions heads to convert pikes to polearms.

  Ad onore dei Perry c'è da dire che tutte e 14 le figure sono diverse. Considerando il numero di teste e di armamenti disponibili ciò limita al minimo i doppioni (non so voi ma io odio dipingere due volte la stessa miniatura). 

Un buon set in tutto e per tutto. ho montato i 12 pezzi della prima materozza su rondelle ed ho aggiunto alcune teste metalliche dal set "italiano" per dare quel feeling Rinascimentale. Vediamo se riesco ad attaccare le braccia come si deve... 

In favour of the Perry I have to say that all of the 14 figures are different. Accounting of the additional heads and available weapons the doubles are really limited (I don't know your opinion, but I hate painting the same figure twice).

All in all a really good set. I mounted the 12 guys from the standard sprue on washers and added also some metal heads from the "italian set" to add some Renaissance feel. Let's see if they take up arms well...

Nottingham? Un dispaccio dalla Foresta di Sherwood? Forse il caro Robin mi invia qualcosa, sidro magari. Spedito il 6 di novembre: non ci sono più i piccioni di una volta...

Ehilà! Benvenuti! Giocattoli nuovi! Così potrò iniziare qualcosa di cui si sentiva davvero il bisogno: un nuovo progetto ludico :). Generalmente richiederà un ridicolo ammontare di tempo senza mai giungere a conclusione. Ma, per il momento, grazie fratelli Perry.
