 256 a. C. CAPO ECNOMO (1a guerra punica)
 256 B.C. CAPE ECNOMUS (1st punic war)

Contesto storico

Historical background
In the summer of 256 BC the Romans decided to bring the conflict on Carthaginian soil. They set up a mighty fleet of 330 ships that will descend the boot, cross the Strait of Messina and sail along the eastern coast of Sicily, gather along the way many veterans of the long war, which will be added to the already thick embarked troops.

These preparations are not made in secret. It is immediately clear for the Carthaginians what are the stakes, if this fleet was not stopped, the fight would move on native African soil. It is therefore armed an adequate fleet. The fleet of 350 ships, set sail from Lilybaeum, and keeping the Sicilian coast to the left, and sets course to intercept the enemy.

With the fleets so close and eager to fight, the Battle of Cape Ecnomus is inevitable. Thus, the bases of one of the largest naval battles in history, ancient and recent is set.

Regole speciali dello scenario
I rimorchiatori possono sganciarsi dai trasporti.

Scenario special rules
Punic Stratagem: the Carthaginian plan was to entice the Romans in attaching their center and then sorround and destroy them. The Carthaginian deck includes 4 STRATAGEM cards. When one of these cards is turned, the Carthaginian admiral has the option to fall back a full move the units in Amilcar squadron ending the move prow to the nearest enemy. If Amilcar exploits this choice the roman units in the consular squadrons must follow at the maximum speed possible. Then the STRATAGEM is discarded. If the carthaginian choose not to fall back, this STRATAGEM card, and all others, will have no effect whatsoever.
Flagship: both consular ships boast the Fleet flagship bonus.
Corvus: all roman ships have a corvus, with the exception of the WHITE squadron.
Tow: the horse transports are in the tow of the WHITE squadron. Both towed and towing units count as crippled. The towing ships can cut the tow lines at any time. Untowed trasports count as disabled.
Favor of the Gods: at the game start the Gods are with the Romans.
